Bagley Street Road Construction Expected Completion by 4th of July

The Bagley Street roadwork that has been going on now for two weeks is expected to be done early July. The Bagley Street traffic has been diverted for two weeks to the dismay of drivers has been crazy and hectic. “We get some nice people, and some people are really rude and inconsiderate for our hard work we’re trying to complete,” Bolen Asphalt and Levy Corporation employee Patricia Bolen said. According to the Alpena Road Commission, this work has been needed for a long time. “Well, obviously the bridge was replaced two years ago and the approaches to the bridge are new. We had recognized that the road at that time was twenty years old and beginning to show signs of deterioration. So, we began applying for grant money and were successful in securing that and also added money from our fund in order to complete the project,” Managing Director for the Alpena Road Commission Ryan Brege said.

Residents should always be careful and follow all directions and signs on the road, “Access the businesses on the south end of the project from the south end from M-32, and all the businesses on the north end from Long Rapids Road. The original timeframe of the project was three weeks. We are hoping to have it open by the 4th of July,” Brege said.

A couple of future projects are also on the horizon, “We just completed Hamilton Road between US-23 and French Road and the contractor sometime early July is going to start on Airport Road from M-32 to up to the airport. We do have one other project that is supposed to begin in July, which is a signing project. We are going to resign all the curbs and stop signs on Long Rapids Road from Bagley Street out to Graham Road,” Brege said.
