Area 3 Special Olympics Strikes Gold Across Multiple Sports At Central Michigan University
Area 3 Special Olympics won gold when they competed in various sports at Central Michigan University
“We went down to Mount Pleasant over at Central Michigan University. Go Chippewas, we, had a team for volleyball, horseshoes and bocce ball, which sort of like yard bowling. Some of our athletes won gold in each of their events. And then our volleyball team went undefeated to bring home the gold” said Jason Laird, Area 3 Special Olympics coach.
The area 3 team consists of athletes from Presque isle, Montmorency, Alpena and Alcona. They are currently seeking more chaperones coaches and athletes. They hope to increase their roster in additional sports such as softball, floor hockey and swimming.
“Bunch of us are planning on doing the polar plunge of this winter. It’s going to be a cold one. in memory of, Brett. I can’t think of his last name offhand, but. But, and anyways, a bunch of us are going to do that, so come out and support us, and we appreciate all the support from everybody” said Laird.
